Hazel Grayson Silvers Dale

Hazel Grayson Silvers Dale, 80, of Morganton, NC died Friday, February 20, 2015. Born August 10, 1934 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter of the late George Grady Grayson and Mamie Cornelia Toney Grayson. Hazel worked for many years in the Oak Hill School cafeteria. She went on to work at several textile manufacturing plants, and retired from Carolina Shoe. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Hazel dearly loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, D. Ralph Dale of the home; a son, Dwight Silvers of Gastonia, NC; a daughter, Darlene Silvers Ramsey and husband, Clyde, of Morganton; step-daughters, Linda Dale Michaels and husband, William, and Janice Dale Duckworth and husband, Doug, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Carmen Ellis and husband, Chris, Melissa Bryant and husband, Robert, Drema Rice and husband, Richard, and Ashley Ramsey; step-grandchildren, Charlene McCall and husband, Harvey, Kevin Michaels and wife, Donna, and Rhett Duckworth; a number of great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Gurley of Casar, NC; and a brother, Johnny Toney and wife, Kathryn of Bostic, NC.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Joe” Silvers; a son, William Michael Silvers; and siblings, Guy Grayson, Lorraine Dale, Beth Grayson, and Evelyn Brewer.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2015 at Fairview Baptist Church with the Reverends David Ledford and Marshall Dill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
