Hazel Walker Hubbard

Hazel Walker Hubbard, 87, of Icard Dam Road, Hickory, NC, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Frye Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Caldwell County, NC on June 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Fletcher Walker and Luvenia King Walker. Hazel was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Granite Falls, NC and a retired employee of Shuford Mills.She is survived by sons, Patrick Hubbard and wife, Nancy, of Morganton, NC and Phillip "Hub" Hubbard and wife, Gloria, of Hudson, NC; a daughter, Becky Helton and husband, Mike, of Grace Chapel, NC; a son-in-law, Gary Miller of Hudson; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Hubbard; a daughter, Fran Miller; two brothers, eight sisters, and a grandson, Mike Andrew Helton, Jr. Hazel was the last of eleven children.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church with Reverends Wayne A. White and Ron Winkler officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Becky, 6113 Icard Dam Road, Hickory, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan B.
