Helen Chapman Monico

Helen Chapman Monico, 92, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, December 15, 2015.  Born November 7, 1923 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Boston Chapman and Lula Denton Chapman Huffman.  Helen was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and a retired employee of General Electric.  Helen was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, and enjoyed watching all the birds at her birdfeeders.  She loved her many friends and their visits to her home.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Bounous Carpenter and husband, Newton, of Cocoa Beach, FL; grandchildren, Wendy Jo Carswell of Morganton and Scott Wasko and wife, Jennifer of Forest, VA; a great-grandson, Hunter Wasko; nieces, Debbie Taylor, Lynn Dale, and Pam Kirby, all of Morganton, and great-nieces, Deedee Taylor and Brooke Rich.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by husbands, Quentin Smith and James Monico; a daughter, Ann Bell; a grandson, John Anthony Carswell; and siblings, Bobby Joe Huffman, Jack and Cecil Chapman, and Peggy Dale..

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday January 9, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church on Bethel Rd. with Rev.
Butch Osborne officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1328 Bethel Rd., Morganton, NC  28655.
