Helen Smith Jordan Gwyn

Helen Smith Jordan Gwyn, 88, of Connelly Springs, NC, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022.

Born on January 27, 1934 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Hunter Smith and Mary Duckworth Smith. Helen was a retired employee of Carolina Shoe. She was an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles and spending time with her family.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen is survived by her children, Eddie Jordan (Treva), Evelyn Jordan (David), Anthony “Tony” Jordan, and Chris Jordan (Cindy); grandchildren, Todd Beaver, Joseph Beaver, Robert Jordan, Amy Dale, Cameron Jordan, and Joshua Jordan; great-grandchildren, Leo Beaver, Bella Beaver, Savannah Beaver, Julianna Beaver, Roseanna Beaver, Sean Jordan, Kyleigh Dale, Lily Dale, step-son, Danny Gwyn; and Olivia Jordan; sister, Arlene Mayfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Millard Jordan; second husband, Helton “Sonny” Gwyn; sisters, Louise Roper, Ione Speagle, JoAnne Bollinger, and Donna Costner; brothers, Richard and Steve Smith; younger siblings, Ernest Smith, Jr. and Doris Smith; step-daughter, Libby Seals; and step-granddaughter, Olivia Seals.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Burke Memorial Park with Pastor Patrick Bradshaw officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
