Herman Butler, 72 of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly, Monday, March 14, 2022. Born on April 21, 1949, he was the son of the late Marvin and Martha Butler. He was a member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church. Herman was very involved in dirt track racing with his boys. He was a family man who loved collecting and restoring tractors and loved old cars and trucks. Herman also loved to parasail with his daughter. He loved life, being with family, and farming. He retired from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.
Herman is survived by his wife, Judy Kay Butler; sons, Paul Butler (Amanda) and Chris Butler (Ashley); daughter, Kelly Butler and boyfriend, Matt Smith; bonus sons, Grayson, Jason Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jaxson Butler, Maci Butler; bonus grandchildren, Bentlee and Addilyn; brothers, Pinkey Butler (Debby), Frank Butler (Becky); sister, Ruby Long. In addition to his parents, Herman is preceded in death by his brother Irvin David “Tig” Butler.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the ICU Nursing Staff at Grace Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny McNeilly, Curtis Carroll, Daniel Parker, and Chris Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
