Hettie Waters Stillwell

Hettie Waters Stillwell, 88, of Jamestown Rd, Morganton, NC died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at College Pines Nursing Center in Valdese, NC. She was in born in Burke County on July 17, 1917, and was a daughter of the late Hayes Gunther Waters and Minnie Regina Duckworth Waters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmie "Bud" Stillwell; brothers, John, Roy, Calvin, and Bill Waters; a sister, Helen Waters; and a grandson, Derrick Baldridge. Mrs. Stillwell was a faithful member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Stillwell is survived by sons; Lee Ervin Stillwell and wife, Hanna, of Nebo, Jerry Dean Stillwell and wife, Mary, Donald Edwin Stillwell and wife, Cecilia, Larry R. Stillwell and wife, Brenda, all of Morganton, and Richard Hayes Stillwell and wife, Pat, of Connelly Springs, NC; a daughter; Linda Stillwell Duncan of Morganton; a brother; Hardy Waters and wife, Mary, of Morganton; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with the Reverends Dean Lavender and Donald Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:30 pm at Sossoman Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Larry Stillwell on Jamestown Rd. in Morganton.
