Hope Benfield Vance

Hope Benfield Vance, 88, of Duckworth Circle, Morganton, NC died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Grace Heights in Morganton following a brief illness. Born in Avery County, NC on May 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Benfield and Fannie Carpenter Benfield. Hope was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a former long-time member of Stameytown Baptist Church in Altamont, NC.Gone but not forgotten, Hope is survived by her sons, Ronnie M. Vance and Gene A. Vance and wife, Frances, all of Morganton; daughters, Roseann Sarinick and husband, George, of Commack, NY, and Nelda Entress and husband, Keith, of Newland, NC; sisters, Opal Woody of Morganton and Dorothy Lunsford of Rhodhiss, NC; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at Stameytown Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
