Hoy B. Shores, 79, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015. Born in Watauga County, NC on August 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Don H. Shores and Yonnie Green Shores. Hoy was raised in the Baptist Faith. In his early years he worked at Morganton Furniture Company. Hoy was known and loved by many in the Morganton area.
Mr. Shores is survived by his brothers, Don Edward Shores and his wife, Agnes, of Roanoke, VA and Andrew Wayne Shores and his friend, Susan Fox, of Morganton; sisters, Catherine S. Epley and her husband, Claude, and Sharon S. Carswell and her husband, Harold, all of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Hoy was preceded in death by two brothers, Coy D. Shores and Earl D. Shores.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Chaplain Larry Cronk officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
