Hubert T. Cook

Hubert T. Cook, 91, of Westview St., Valdese, NC died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Autumn Care of Drexel, NC. Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Vess Cook and Lela Bumgarner Cook. Hubert was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Casar, NC and actively attended Amherst Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings and loved meeting new friends and visiting with people.Hubert is survived by his sons, Gerald L. Cook and wife, Marilyn, of Lincolnton, NC and Larry Wayne Cook and wife, Mary, of Valdese; a daughter, Kay C. Rhoney of Valdese; grandchildren, Gerald Bryan Cook, Vickie Fletcher, Regina Propst, Mitchell Cook, Holly Johnson, Michelle Fortune, Tim Rhoney, Tracy Hicks, and Crystal Rhoney; eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel M. Cook; his second wife, Lizzie W. Cook; brothers, Cletus and George Cook; and a son, Jackie Richard Cook.The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Amherst Baptist Church with Reverends Harold Joplin and Timothy Fortune officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery.
