Hubert Troy Smith

Hubert Troy Smith, 82 of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. Born on May 26, 1937 he was the son of the late William Luke Smith and Dorothy Causby Smith. Hubert was a lifelong member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He retired from Henredon Furniture with 50 years of service in the finishing department. Hubert loved his family, church family, mowing grass and working in his garden. Most of all he truly loved his loving wife.

Hubert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith Smith; sons, Bruce Smith and wife Theresa, Chris Smith and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Michael Smith and wife Chassity, Kevin Smith and wife Brittany, Chandler Smith; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Hadley, Adisyn, Khloe; sister, Myrtle Poteat; sister-in-law, Billy Joe Smith.

In addition to his parents, Hubert is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Smith; sisters, Kate Riddle and Sue Walker.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the Life Enrichment Center at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3:00pm in the sanctuary with the Revs. Chris Dale and Donald Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care or Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.
