Hugheson “Huse” Clark Powell

Hugheson “Huse” Clark Powell, 92, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021.  Born in Avery County, NC on September 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert Delane Clark and Anna Eliza Keller Clark.  Huse was a faithful and active member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and volunteered with hospice for over 25 years.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her children, Joyce Amelia “Millie” Powell Shuffler (Steve), Robert Randall “Randy” Powell (Susie), and Rodney Lewis Powell (Jeanne); grandchildren, C.J. Shuffler (Karen), Stephanie Mills (Steven), Gloria Brooks (Chris), and Eric Powell (Charmaine); 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Saundra Beck (Darrell), Charles Clark (LouAnn), George Clark (Nancy), and Carl Clark (Susan).

In addition to her parents, Huse was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” E. Powell; and a number of brothers and sisters.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul McClure officiating.
