Ina Ledford Penland

Ina Ledford Penland, 85, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born in Yancey County, NC on April 9, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Ledford and Maude Willis Ledford. Her hobbies included knitting and gardening. Ina loved the Lord and enjoyed life to the fullest.A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Penland is survived by her children, Kenneth Penland and his wife, Patricia, of Glen Alpine, NC, Freida Angley and her husband, William, of Morganton, Juanita Gates of Morganton, Maxine Coffey and her husband, Mark, of Morganton, Alden Penland of Morganton, Randy Penland of Marion, and Sheila Thomas of Morganton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Matfrie McPeters of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Max Willie Penland; a granddaughter, Teresa Angley; four brothers, Elzie, Paul, Alvie, and Grover Ledford; and a sister, Grace Hensley.The funeral will be held at 4:00 pm, Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4:00 pm prior to the service.
