Inez Lackey Parker of Morganton

Inez Lackey Parker of Morganton, NC died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born in Lincoln County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence O. Lackey and Lulu Willis Lackey. Inez was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was active in the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a graduate and all-star basketball player at North Brook High School in Lincolnton. Along with her husband, she founded Parker Plumbing and Heating.A loving mother and grandmother, Inez is survived by her son, Gary E. Parker of Fuquay Varina, NC; granddaughters, Lauren McLamb and husband, Bryan, of Garner, NC and Katie Parker of Raleigh, NC; her niece and caregiver, Barbara Mauney of Charlotte, NC; and her sister-in-law, Betty P. Cole.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Frank Parker; brothers; Marshall, Alvin, Burgin, and Ralph Lackey; sisters, Novella L. Goodnight and Ann. L. Laughridge; and a daughter-in-law, Susan H. Parker.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Burt Wilbur officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center, where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
