Irene Buff Kelly

Irene Buff Kelly, 88, of Morganton, NC, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019. She was born on April 22, 1930 to the late Luther Ellis Buff and Sue (Anna) Benfield Norris. Irene was a former employee of Skyland Textile, the NC Department of Agriculture and retired from Broughton Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a youth leader for over 30 years and worked in the day care center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Clinton Kelly; brother, Ben Sprouse: sisters, Hattie Huffman and Bobbie Brock.

She is survived by her children, Dereama K. Coffin (Gary) of Morganton, Ronald C. Kelly (Jill) of Durham, Tammy K. Packard (Wayne) of Morganton, Jody M. Kelly of West Jefferson, NC; grandchildren, Kirsten Marett (Jeff), Kelsey Webb (Tim), Kelly Morris (Seth), Dana Webb (Justin), Alex Kelly, Lindsey Roberson (Gus), Emily Kelly; great-grandchildren, Hunter Marett, Madison Marett, Cooper Webb, Packard Webb, Abram Morris, Ellis Webb, Rowan Roberson, Watson Webb; brother, Loy D. Buff.

The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will be at 4:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
