Irene Kincaid Johnson, 65 of Morganton, NC passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She was born January 27, 1952 in Burke County, NC and was the daughter of the late Andrew Pearson and Earline Kincaid Pearson. Irene was a member of Hartland Church of God. Irene retired from J. Iverson Riddle Center after 30 years of employment as a supervisor. After retirement she wanted to stay busy by helping other people. So, she began working at ComServe Group Home as a house supervisor. She was known for her cooking and willingness to share a meal, and was often referred to as “Mama” by many that knew her. Irene also loved spending time in the mountains but most important to her was just spending time with her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother and “Nana”, which she adored being called, and had a special bond with her only granddaughter, Jenaya, whom she called “BaeBae”. Irene was the “rock” of her family and she will forever be missed and loved dearly.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Andre Kincaid.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Richard Johnson of the home; daughters, Robin Johnson and Shaqueen Kincaid both of Morganton whom she called “my girls”; grandchildren, Jayden Connelly, Jenaya Johnson, Jace Johnson, Kaeden Hairston and Christian Williams; brother, Robert Pearson of New York; special cousins, Reginald Kincaid of Morganton, whom she considered a son and Teresa Kincaid of Morganton; and a host of aunts, nieces, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Hartland Church of God. The funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Faye Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with a release of Doves.
