Isabel Martin Sherrill

Isabel Martin Sherrill, 90, of Zion Rd., Morganton, NC died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Grace Hospital. Born June 4, 1918 in Greenwood County, SC, she was a daughter of the late George Pearson Martin and Narcissus Clarke Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Wesley Sherrill, Sr.; brothers, Fred Martin and George Martin, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Milton Sasser. Mrs. Sherrill was a member of First Baptist Church, Morganton. She was a graduate of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and was employed in the main office of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings for over twenty years. She and husband loved to take road trips all over the country, and she especially enjoyed her time at their vacation home in North Myrtle Beach. Isabel was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.Surviving are a son, Wilson Sherrill, Jr. and his wife, Sara of Morganton; a daughter, Rebecca Sherrill Brinkley and her husband, Louis of Morganton; grandchildren, Greg Brinkley, Lisa Brinkley Swan, Julie Sherrill, and Kam Sherrill McHugh; great grandchildren, Landon, Jackson, and Walter; and a sister-in-law, Violet Sherrill.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
