Iva Bowen Waters

Iva Bowen Waters, 68, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, June 2, 2014. Born in Madison County, NC on November 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Grady Nelson Davis and Bessie Madeline Coates Davis. Iva was raised in the Baptist faith. She worked as an RN at Grace and Frye Hospitals in Morganton and at Meadowcrest and Charity Hospitals in New Orleans.

Mrs. Waters is survived by her husband, Dean Waters of the home; sons, John "Chris" Bowen and his wife, Terra, of Maysville, NC, Kevin Bowen and his wife, Tiffany, of Baton Rouge, LA, and Joshua Waters and his wife, Samantha, of Newton, NC; grandchildren, Kellin, Karsyn, and Kaden Bowen, Aiden and Madison Waters, Andrew Bowen, Joey Bowen and Tristan Bowen; a brother, Whifield Davis and his wife, Elizabeth, of Nebo, NC; and three sisters, Ellen Roper and her husband, J.R., of Morganton, Zora Chapman and her husband, Lee, of Morganton, and Zona Purkey and her husband, Jerry, of Kitty Hawk, NC.

In addition to her parents, Iva was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Trinity Bowen; brother, Guy Davis, and two sisters, Zelda Rice and Thelma Tipton.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Nowling’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Darvey Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the graveside.
