Ivaleen C. Gilbert

Ivaleen C. Gilbert, 81, of Hickory, NC passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. She was born July 29, 1936 in Burke County, NC and was the daughter of the late Sam Chapman and Emma Watts Chapman. Ivaleen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved flowers and gardening. Ivaleen enjoyed talking on the phone to family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Thomas William Gilbert and granddaughter, Tabitha Gilbert.
She is survived by son, Tony Carroll Gilbert and wife, Kim; daughter, Rhonda Gilbert Travis and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Benjamin Carroll Gilbert and wife, Candice, Travis William Gilbert, Misty Huffman Surgeon and husband, Justin, Brandon Eugene Travis and wife, Krystal, and Emily Nichole Huffman; and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Gouge officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
