Iverson "Guy" Duckworth

Iverson "Guy" Duckworth, 81, of Morganton passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on April 4, 1921, he was the son of the late William Arthur Duckworth and Addie Lee Franklin Duckworth. Guy attended Rain Hill Wesleyan Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Great Lakes Carbon with 28 years of service. Guy loved to garden and fish for trout.Guy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Brown Duckworth of the home; a daughter, Kathy Stacy and her husband, Lee, of Morganton; a granddaughter, Shanna Duckworth of Morganton; and sisters, Louise Henson of Glen Alpine, NC and Pearl Dellinger of Nebo, NC.In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Duckworth; brothers, James, Luther, Sidney, Robert, and Walter Duckworth; and a sister, Hazel Beach.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Rain Hill Wesleyan Church with Rev. Lou Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O.
