Jack (Big Jack) Anderson, 74, of Sugar Mountain, NC passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on October 13, 1944 in Morgantown, WV, to the late Walter Jackson Anderson and Nina Yoho Anderson. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force having served several tours in Vietnam. He was the owner\operator and founder of Resort Real Estate and Rentals at Sugar Mountain. He was an avid NHRA racing fan and loved to travel. He loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Day Anderson of the home; son, Walter Jackson (Little Jack) Anderson (Janet) of Sugar Mountain; daughter, Lynn Anderson Church (Eric) of Foscoe, NC; grandchildren, Jayme Whittington (Brian), Joshua Wearn, Jackson Anderson, James Anderson, Ashlyn Church; great-grandson, Ashur Whittington; sister, Martha Coleman (Nathan) of Statesboro, GA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Newland. The funeral will be at 1pm Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the US Air Force. Joshua Wearn, Brian Whittington, Tony Roberts, Mike Ray, Lee McKagen, Daryl Turbyfill will all serve as pallbearers.
