Jack Howard Ward, Jr., 74, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Born in Burke County, NC on August 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Jack Howard Ward, Sr. and Mattie Jewell Anderson Ward. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and Navy, retired from the U.S. Air Force, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Emorywood Electrical in Morganton.Jack is survived by his wife, Janet Menzies Ward of the home; daughters, Jacinda Heidi Ward Weiss and husband, Stephen, of Cooper City, FL and Jewel Hope Ward of Chapel Hill, NC; a brother, James Robert Ward and wife, Christine, of Cooper City, FL; grandchildren, Rebecca Hannah Weiss and Mitchell Bryan Weiss; and a nephew, Jason Robert Ward.In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a number of aunts and uncles, and loving cousins.The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Ward officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
