Jack R. Shuffler

Jack R. Shuffler, 87, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017.  Born in Burke County, NC on July 17, 1929, he was the son of the late L. L. Shuffler and Sadie Gertrude Smyre Shuffler.  He was a former member of the N.C. National Guard; a Sgt. of the 120^th Infantry Regiment.  Jack was a hardworking man who loved animals and the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bears.

A wonderful husband, Mr. Shuffler is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Franklin Shuffler; daughters, Pamela Faye Shuffler and Kimberly Dawn Shuffler, both of Durham, NC; brothers, Billy Gray and Lonnie “Dude” Perry; and a sister, Annie Marie Setzer.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Turner; and 3 sisters, Evelyn Gertrude Leaf, Isabelle Carroll Setzer, and Jeanie Shuffler.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Friday, May 5, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The graveside service will follow at 3:15 at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Rose.
