Jack William Campbell, 79, of Morganton died Sunday, June 3, 2018. Born in Cherokee County, SC on August 17, 1938, he was the son of the late David Onzelow Campbell and Lila Mae Ingle Campbell. He retired from the NC Army National Guard with 32 years of service and retired from the City of Morganton and Burke County. He served as a Reserve Sheriff Deputy with the Burke County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, he owned and operated Campbells Wood Yard for 19 years. Jack will be remembered in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his son, Todd W. Campbell of Morganton; granddaughter, Kirstin Campbell; two great-grandchildren; brother, Billy D. Campbell of Morganton; sisters, Frances Padgett of Rutherfordton and Barbara Rosenmarkle of Spindale.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Rochelle Cline Campbell; sisters, Virginia Smith and Nancy Jugar.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Earl Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
