Committal
Jacqueline Bernice Piercy passed with peace and grace on late Friday evening, March 2, 2018, after a long, hard battle with cancer.
Jacqueline was born in Avery County, NC on January 21, 1949. She was the daughter of late Bruce Jack Piercy and Faye Shook McKinney. She was a fun loving, free-spirited individual. With her love of travel, she became a truck driver for some of her years before devoting herself to raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone, her kitchen was never closed. She will always be remembered as a loving mother to her children but to her grandchildren she will always be remembered as their “Nini” who was always there for others no matter what.
Jacqueline is survived by her sons, Scott Morgan of Valdese and Paul Morgan of Morganton; daughters, Lora Seagle of Lenoir and Lesa Morgan of Morganton; son-in-law, Zeb Jenkins of Morganton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittnay Morgan, Casey Morgan, Josh Morgan, Chris Whisnant, Thomas Whisnant, Kayla Bingham, and Savanna Harwood; great grandchildren, Serenity Johnson, Jacob Whisnant, Loukas Whisnant, Lilly Bumgarner, Maya Miller, Jaxon Whisnant, Jocelyn Whisnant, Holly Cox, Kanaan Whisnant, Remington Rice, Navaeh, Makayla Morgan and Arissa Morgan; her sister, Polly Benfield of Morganton; her niece Kathy Cook and her brother, Don McKinney of Morganton.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center in Morganton, NC. The memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating.
