James Burgees 'Cootie' Bryant, 70, of Park Ave, Drexel, NC died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Cannon Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Bryant was born in Jackson, NC on September 10, 1936 and was the son of the late Charlie Larry Bryant and Essie Davis Bryant.
Surviving are his sons, Jimmy Bryant and Jamie Bryant and his wife, Danette, all of Morganton; his daughters, Gale Bryant and Tina Houpe both of Morganton, Debbie Gragg and her husband, Alan, of Glen Alpine, and Terri Drewery, of Franklin, VA; sisters and their husbands, Hazel and Herbert Corbett of Palm Dale, CA and Tish and Ray Bowman, of Jackson; eighteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Mr. Ray Gragg officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Jamie Bryant, 114 Hill St., Drexel.
