James Bynum Deviney

James Bynum Deviney, 79, of Lincolnton, NC, passed away, Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Born on June 9, 1941, he was the son of the late Otto Bynum and Paulene Pruett Deviney. James was a member of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden. He enjoyed working on small engines, truck driving, farming, feeding the birds. James would talk to anyone and was a big Tarheel fan. He was a Chevy Truck and John Deere man. James was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Casar.

James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Deviney; daughter, Misty Deviney Shope (Dwayne), step-daughter, Fran Noel (Dorothy); granddaughters, Alexis and Ella; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; brother, Ralph Deviney (Gerri).

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his infant sister, Arlene Deviney; brothers, Jerry Deviney and Bobby Deviney.

There will be a graveside service at 1pm, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
