James C. Perry

James C. Perry, 84, of Morganton died Tuesday, August 13, 2013. He was born in Burke County on August 19, 1928 and was a son of the late Ulys Wiley Perry and Hessie Mae Poteat Perry Sprouse. In addition to his parents, Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his wife, Cordelia Justice Perry; brother, Russell Perry; sisters, Molly Wright, Louise Baker, Inez Walker, and Ruth Ramsey; and a great-grandson, Corbin Thompson.Mr. Perry was a retired facilities manager at Western Carolina Center where he was employed since its inception. James and his wife, Cordelia enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Brown Mountain Light Steppers. He was a member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church.Surviving are his daughters and their husbands, Linda and Gene Sexton of Spring, TX and Diane and Charlie Binford of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Sexton, Christie Binford Horn and husband, Jonathan, Joseph Sexton and wife, Alison, Daniel Sexton and wife, Erika, and Melody Binford Thompson and husband, Brad; great-granddaughters, Bethany and Caitlyn Thompson, and Haley, Lily, Zoey, and Emma Sexton; and a sister, Nelda King of Greensboro, NC.Entombment services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Brad Thompson and Mr. Floyd Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
