James C. Stroupe

James C. Stroupe, 84, of Morganton died Saturday, July 7, 2018 following a period of declining health.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Gerald Glen Stroupe and Katie Elizabeth Johnson Stroupe.  James was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.  He was an avid golfer who enjoyed being in the outdoors.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife, Eva Jordan Stroupe of the home; sons, Charles Keever, Randy Keever (Sharon), and Jeff Moorefield (Lisa), all of Morganton; daughters, Cindy Stroupe, Beverly Stroupe, and Brenda Keever, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Ryan Moorefield, Chris Shell, M.J. Stroupe, Tim Stroupe, Miranda Michaels, Karly Moorefield, Katie Stroupe, Carli Stroupe, Kasey Stroupe, and Ashley Stroupe; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Vernon Stroupe and wife, Judy.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Stroupe; daughter, Jana Shell; grandson, Terry Stroupe; brother, Carmie Stroupe; and sister, Jeraline Cole.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Burke Memorial Park with Revs. Tony Land and Randy Keever officiating.  The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.
