James "Cooter" Banner

James “Cooter” Banner, 63, of Morganton, NC passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Magnolia Lane Nursing Home, he was the son of the late Hobert William Banner and Ruby Mae McKinney Banner. Cooter was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. He worked as a carpenter for 32 plus years and had worked at Morganton Dye and Finishing.
Cooter is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Huffman Banner; sons, Russel James Banner and wife, Jessica and Chris Banner and wife, Andrea all of Morganton; daughters, Christina Vang and husband, Austin of Conover, Teresa Hughes of Avery County and Tammy English of Hildebrand; ten grandchildren; brother, Gary Banner and wife, Marilyn of Morganton; and sisters, Nadine McPeters of Morganton and Irma Smith and husband, Phillip of Connelly Springs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, C.L. Banner and sister, Linda Norville.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. The service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the church with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
