James Edward McNeilly

James Edward McNeilly, 83, of Morganton died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC following a short illness. Born May 10, 1927 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late John Lero McNeilly and Fannie Queen McNeilly. James was a US Army veteran, and a very faithful member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. He retired from Broughton Hospital with 36 years of service.Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Belver Jolley McNeilly of the home; sisters, Dorothy Pruett of Casar, NC, and Mavin Walker of Taylorsville, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Russell McNeilly.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
