James Garland Bumgarner

James Garland Bumgarner, 72, of Morganton passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 18, 2019.  Born in Jackson County, NC on February 7, 1047, he was the son of the late William Burton Bumgarner and Mary Battle Bumgarner.  James retired from the City of Morganton where he worked as a technician at the water treatment facility.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most recently enjoyed travelling with his wife.

A loving and devoted family man, James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Frances Fox Bumgarner; sisters, Shelba Bumgarner and Malene “Tiny” Bumgarner Sherrill, both of Brevard, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Orders officiating.

The family is requesting no flowers.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
