James "Harold" McGee

James “Harold” McGee, 77, of Morganton went home to his Heavenly home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born November 25, 1939 in Mitchell County, NC and was the son of the late Willie Roscoe McGee and Maude Greene McGee. Harold was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Harold enjoyed Nascar, fishing, golf, Atlanta Braves, and Georgia Bulldogs. But especially loved spending time with his family that he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Theodore McGee, and Arnold Lee McGee; and sisters, Bonnie Mae Hise, Beulah Burnette, and Helen Deal.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen McGee; children, James William McGee and wife, Lori, Kathy McGee Auton, and Mark Edward McGee; grandchildren, Branden McGee and wife, Lauren, Lauren Nicole Auton, Chelsea Leanne McGee, and Lindsey Brooke Auton; great-grandson due in February, Logan James McGee; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Zion Baptist Church. The service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church with Reverends Keith Rose, Stephen Collins and David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
