James "Jim" Marshall Warlick, 77, of Shelby, NC, and formerly of Morganton died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 9, 2012. He was born February 7, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late Floyd Marshall Warlick and Lizzie Belle Carpenter Warlick. Jim was a member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marines. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Jim enjoyed watching NASCAR and football his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He liked working in his yard, and was gifted with helping others with their landscaping needs. He was retired from Grace Hospital where he was known as "THE YARDMAN".In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Grady Warlick three brothers and a sister.Jim is survived by a daughter, Sheri Folk and husband, Mark of Shelby; brother, Billy Warlick and wife, Kay of Casar; grandchildren Madison Grady Folk and Sydnee Angela Folk along with several other family members.Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Folk and Dr. Aubrey Folk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
