James "Jim" Miller, 69, of Morganton, NC, went to his eternal Home on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born in Yancey County, NC on November 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Walter Coy Miller and Dorothy Mae Miller. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Jim owned and operated Jim’s Service Center in Morganton for 33 years. He had a passion for Go-Cart and Automotive Racing. He owned the go-cart that won the World Carting Championship in 1985 and owned the automobile that won the NASCAR Late Model Championship in 1990. Jim loved to camp, ride jet-skis, and be on his pontoon boat. He loved his family and his many friends.Jim is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Prinzo Miller of the home; daughters, Terri Miller, Karen Wright and husband, Tom, both of Morganton; a son, Robert Crawley and fiancée, Teresa Hamerick; grandchildren, Kimberly Lyle and husband, Scott, Jennifer Miller and husband, Matt, Jeremy Wright, Kristen Johnson and husband, Chase, Donovan Flanders, and Cierra Flanders; a great-grandson, Luke Miller; brothers, Ray Miller and wife, Norine, and Bobby Miller and wife, DeDe; a sister, Linda Garrison and husband, Allen; and a number of special nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Miller.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Reverends Dr. Dewey Thomas and Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
