James “Jim” Weller, 79, of Morganton passed away Friday, November 19, 2021. Born in Kent County, MI on December 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Delbert H. Weller and Geraldine Coburn Weller. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganton where he served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer and retired from Henredon Furniture. Following his retirement, he was employed by Maitland Smith and helped setup furniture plants in the Philippines. His last employer was E.J. Victor, from which he retired a second time. Mr. Weller loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Edna B. Weller; children, Jeff Weller (Gina), Leah Weller (Sean), and Damian Weller (Amanda); grandchildren, T.J. Weller, Zachery Weller, and Courtney Hull (Drew); great-grandchildren, Blakely and Cooper Hull; siblings, Dan Weller (Nancy), John Weller, and Crystal Knight (Bob); and a number of nieces and nephews, all whom were like his own.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his canine companion, Margui.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The niche-side service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Columbarium of First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. and the Rev. Fred Schuszler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AMOREM or to First Baptist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
