James L. Crowder

Rev. James L. Crowder, 74, of Morganton died Thursday, December 13, 2012. Born in Avery County, NC on January 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Lewis Ellis Crowder and Susie Mae Fisher Crowder. James was a kind and generous man who loved God.He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Etta Keaton Crowder of the home; a daughter, Jessica Dawn Crowder Norris and her husband, Keith, of Morganton; three grandchildren, Keleigh Smith, Stephanie Norris, and Levi Norris; six brothers; and three sisters.In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by six brothers.The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Norris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
