James L. "Lewis" Causby

James L. "Lewis" Causby, 72, of Salem Rd., died Saturday, May 31, 2008, following a period of declining health. He was born on in Burke County on January 14, 1936 and was a son of the late Horace and Annie Lou Hennessee Causby. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Ben and Ray Causby; sisters, Mamie Causby and Pauline Mace; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Sadie Garrison; brother-in-law, Ted Garrison; and a sister-in-law, Betty Franklin.Lewis was a former employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings and Habersham Furniture Company of Hickory, NC and was a retired employee of Henredon Furniture Company. He attended Salem United Methodist Church and loved his church family. Lewis enjoyed camping with his family and friends.A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Lewis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Garrison Causby, of the home; a son, Chris Causby and his wife, Melissa; grandsons, Matthew, Neal and Grant Causby, all of Morganton; a brother, Thomas Causby, of Prattville, AL; sisters, Inez Williams and her husband, Jack, of Morganton; and Betty Anderson, of High Point, NC; brothers-in-law, Tommy Garrison and his wife, Faye, of Morganton; and David Garrison of Olympia, WA; and sisters-in-law, Judy Stamey and her husband, Troy, of Valdese, Nancy Clark and her husband, James, and Carolyn Garrison, all of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Freshour and Rev. Alan Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home, 1011 Salem Rd., Morganton.
