James Matthew Smith, 51, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, December 24, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on May 13, 1964, he was the son of the late Willie Smith and Evelyn Smith Smith. James enjoyed his work as a truck driver for American Concrete.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Lisa M. Williams Smith of the home; children, Jami Dawn Smith and “Matthew” James Thomas Smith and his wife, Brittany N. Barnes, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Preston I. Rogers, Skylar D. Rogers, Noah D. Smith, and Hydi M. Smith; sisters, Kathy Franklin and Christine Patton, both of Morganton; and a brother, Jason Smith and his wife, Robin, of Morganton.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a grandson, Trenton E. G. Rogers.
No services are planned for Mr. Smith at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
