James Patrick "Pat" McLean

James Patrick "Pat" McLean, 70, beloved husband and father died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Pat was born on May 18, 1942 in Fort Bragg, NC and was the son of the late Oscar James McLean and Martha "Winnie" Prestwood McLean.Pat was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon. He graduated from Morganton High School in 1960 and was class of 1979 at Western Piedmont Community College. Pat was a veteran of the US Navy and a Hydro Manager at Duke Energy. Pat loved his Lord, his family, his church family, friends, traveling, antique trucks, trains and hot rod cars.Survivors are Linda Elliot McLean of the home; daughter, Cynthia Crump and husband, Sam; grandson, Patrick Dakota Crump; brother, Tommy McLean and wife, Ruth; sister, Ann Smith and husband, Eddie; sister-in-law, Shirley Elliot Perkins; aunts, Cleo McLean, Betty Lockee, Eliose McLean, Marillyn McLean; uncles, David McLean and wife, Rocky, Glenn McLean and wife, Barbara; nephews, Richard Perkins, Brad Perkins, James "Jimmy" Smith; and a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3861 Pax Hill Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
