James Phillip "Phil" Greene

James Phillip "Phil" Greene, 54, of Morganton, died Thursday, January 9, 2014. Born in Rutherford County, NC on February 25, 1959, he was the son of the late James Eugene Greene and Lillian Bailey Greene. Phil worked at Synthron for 27 years where he was a chemist. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and an adoring grandfather. Phil enjoyed working with his hands and attended Calvary Assembly of God.Phil is survived by his wife, Kathy Greene; daughters Cindi Sweeney, Jessica Greene, and Heather Powell, all of Morganton; step-sons, Danny Brackett of Hickory and Christopher Brackett and his wife, Emily, of Morganton; grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Mason, Trajen, Willow, Matthew, Luke, Alex, Caroline, and Danny Ray; brother, Michael Greene of Fallston; sisters, Barbara Price of Morganton, Doris Bailey of Lenoir, Shirley Mazza of Chesnee, SC, and Joyce Greene of Fallston.In addition to his parents, he was preceded by death by a son-in-law, Larry Powell, Jr.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God with Reverend Duane Smith officiating. Burial will follow at church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Calvary Assembly of God one hour prior to the service.In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, PO Box 2608, Morganton NC 28680, to help with funeral expenses.
