James “Randy” Campbell

James “Randy” Campbell, 60 of Morganton, NC died unexpectedly Saturday, September 28, 2019.  Born on January 26, 1959 in Burke County, he was a son of Marvin Lewis Campbell and the late Linda Josephine Saunders Campbell.

Mr. Campbell loved his Lord and Savior and was a member of Westview Baptist Church and Sunday school superintendent.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed playing his guitar, especially at church and also enjoyed wood turning.  Mr. Campbell was also a bowling league member.

In addition to his father, he is survived by wife, Susan Baker Campbell of the home; son, J. Ben Campbell (Rebecca) of Missouri; daughter, Sierra Dawn Campbell of Morganton; numerous grandchildren; and brothers, Jeffery L. Campbell (Zeny) of Covington, Georgia and Gary M. Campbell (Linda) of Morganton.  Also surviving is his father-in-law, Larry G. Baker of the home; sister-in-law, Lori Cuthbertson of Morganton; brother-in-law, Chris Baker (Angie) of Hildebran; God-children, Richard Bowman and Courtney of Morganton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Revs. Doug Woody and Ricky Speagle officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westview Baptist Church Mission Fund.
