James Ray Osborne, 83, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2022 after battling an extended illness.
Born in Ashe County, NC on December 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Walter Raleigh Osborne and Chessie Graybeal Osborne. James retired from Drexel Heritage after 35 years of service. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking and gardening.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, James is survived by his wife, Naomi Hart Osborne; daughters, Donna Osborne Hurd (Kenneth), Diane Osborne Bradshaw (Billy), and Denise Osborne Manis (John); son, Don Ray Osborne; grandchildren, Karen Auton, Kimberly Bradshaw, Nikki Schumacher, Ethan Osborne, and Emily Osborne; five great-grandchildren; cousin he grew up with, JoAnne Austin; a number of extended family; special friend, Violet Koutroubas; and caretaker, Dawn McGimsey.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle and legal guardians, Gladys and Eubert Kincaid.
A private family service will be held for Mr. Osborne.
