James Robert Carswell

James Robert Carswell, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born January 11, 1936 in Burke County, he was a son of the late Raymon Dennis Carswell and Kettie Tate Roper Carswell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Carswell.

He was a veteran of the US Army.  Mr. Carswell was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and taught the men’s Sunday school class.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Parsley Carswell; children, Eric Carswell (Frankie Pruett), Amy Causby (Fred), and Dennis Carswell (Nikki); ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Carswell and Mary Anderson (John).

The family will have a receiving of friends following church service from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of College Pines and Mr. Carswell’s special friend and barber, Kevin Attaway.
