James Tucker

James Tucker, Sr., 77, of Morganton died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Mission Hospital in Asheville following a brief illness. Born October 18, 1933 in Burke Co., he was a son of the late Clarence and Louise Taylor Tucker. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Terry; and a brother, Bill Tucker. James was a retired employee of Carolina Shoe Corporation with 37 years of service.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Velma D. Tucker of the home; children, James W. Tucker, Jr., Ricky D. Tucker, Denise Durain, Anita Lynn Sain, and Anna Scarlett Tucker, all of Morganton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Violet and Glenda Tucker.A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at Mr. Tucker’s residence on Buff Avenue in Morganton.
