Jan Elizabeth Suddath Beam, 44, of Morganton died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born February 4, 1967 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of Sybil Stephens Burnette and her husband, Kenneth of Union Mills, NC, and the late Robert Jan Suddath. She worked for many years as a registered nurse in Morganton and Manassas, VA. Jan was a HAM radio operator, and a great cook. She enjoyed riding with her husband on motorcycle trips, and she loved animals.In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Robert "Robbie" Beam of the home; a daughter, MaryGrace Elizabeth Beam of the home; a step-daughter, Samantha Lynn Beam of Morganton; step-sisters, Angela Burnette Smith and husband, Kenny of Drexel, and Laura Burnette Johnson and husband, Thad of Morganton; and an uncle, Sanford Stephens, Jr. of Morganton.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Stacey Layne and Jerry Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her ashes will be buried at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
