Jan Reneigh Duckworth Barrier

Jan Reneigh Duckworth Barrier, 65, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 5, 2021 after a period of declining health.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 31, 1955, she was the daughter of the late James E. Duckworth and Betty Rose Pritchard Duckworth.  Jan attended Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her husband, Martin Barrier; son, Nick Hawkins and his wife, Kristin; grandchildren, Jenson Hawkins and Bryleigh Heafner; God-daughter, Sallie Perdieu; and special nephew, Wes Honeycutt.

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Faye Duckworth.

Jan will be available for viewing from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.  The graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the church cemetery with Rev. Chris Uren officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to The American Cancer Society.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
