Jane Bost Shaffer

Jane Bost Shaffer, 73, of Orlando, FL passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008 in Orlando. Born in Morganton, NC on March 2, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Walter F. and Margie Carswell Bost. She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School, Morganton, NC. She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, NC and her masters degree from Appalachian State University. Jane was a classroom teacher in Burke County, NC, in Brevard, NC, in Alachua and Martin Counties, FL, and in Alexandria, LA. She was a member of the Florida Reading Association and the International Reading Association. Her hobbies included fishing, bridge, and rock hounding. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo, FL.Surviving are her husband, Bob of the home in Orlando; sons, Eric Shaffer of Oviedo, FL and Michael Shaffer of Deming, NM; granddaughters, Madison and Megan Shaffer of Oviedo, FL; a brother, Walter F. Bost, Jr. of Woodstock, NY; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Shaffer and his wife, Onyx of Gainesville, FL and Don Shaffer and his wife, Barbara of Oviedo, FL.

The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andrew Parkey officiating. Burial will follow in the Bost-Forney Cemetery on Bost Rd. The family will receive friends at the church for thirty minutes before the service.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 East Livingston St., Orlando, FL.
