Janice McQueen Lollis, 87, of Morganton, entered her Heavenly Home on her birthday, Wednesday, February 10. Born in Cleveland, Tennessee on Feb 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Jane Goodner McQueen.

Her family moved to Clearwater, Florida when she was 12. She graduated from Clearwater High School and attended St. Petersburg Junior College. While traveling to Ridgecrest, NC by bus, she met the love of her life, Jack White Lollis, who was traveling home to Greenville, SC from Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. A budding romance was formed that lasted over 50 years.

She first worked for Southern Railway using her clerical skills. She stayed home while her two daughters were in school. She went back to work at J P Stevens and JPS Industries, where she made many wonderful, long-lasting friends. She also faithfully attended weekly Bible studies at the EI School of Biblical Training ever since its early days. She used her clerical skills to type the messages that were presented weekly. She was a faithful and long-time member of the Greenville Christian Fellowship in Greenville, SC, where she loved the congregation and her pastor, Randy Cook. She attended First Baptist Church in Morganton where she felt loved and quickly made that her new church home.

Music, particularly, singing hymns, was her delight and joy. She was in the Glee Club in high school and often sang in a quartet. She also sang in the choir and played the piano at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL. In her later years, even with Alzheimer's, she loved to sing along with the hymns from the Billy Graham Crusades.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack White Lollis, and her beloved daughter, Susan Lollis Frazier Beall; son, Jack White Lollis, Jr.; son-in-law, Terry Gene Frazier. She also was predeceased by her dear sister, Maxine Mason Bowen.

She is survived by her daughter, Jana Lollis, of Morganton, NC. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Frazier Miller (Chris), and great-grandson, Jackson Miller; son-in-law, David Clark Beall; cousins, Vestal Trotter (Donna), Thomas Trotter (Emma Jo), Willene Pardue (Bill) and nieces and nephews, Don Mason (Debbie), Denise Brewer (Darrell), Jan Sarver, David Sammons, Sr, Guy Sammons, Jr (Sandra), Gena Mistretta (Pete), Joy Raulerson (Larry), Melody Johnson (Scott), Cherry Duckett (Cary).

A special thanks goes to caregivers Wanda Davis, whom she called "Sweetie", Debra and Lyric Connelly, Bridget Blackburn, and to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 19, from 3:00-4:00, at the Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home, in Morganton, NC, with the service following at 4:00. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Eastview Cemetery in Honea Path, SC. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville Christian Fellowship, 2220 State Park Rd, Greenville, SC 29609 or the EI School of Biblical Training, 700 N Parker Rd, Greenville, SC 29609.
