Janice York Stamey

Janice York Stamey, 74, of Cleet York Rd. in Valdese died unexpectedly, Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her residence. Born March 30, 1936 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Cleetus Leroy York and Barbara Denton York. Janice was a member of the Valdese Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved the Bible, and was very active in the church’s bible study groups.Janice is survived by a son, Kevin Stamey and wife, Kimberly of Granite Falls; daughters, Cathy Stamey McDaniel and husband, Tony, of Lawndale, NC, Cindy Hood and husband, Michael, Lisa Suttles, and Tammy Causby, all of Morganton; and Jennifer Cole and husband, Josh, of Lenoir; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lee Stamey; a son, Jimmy Stamey; and a sister, Mary Epley.Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday in the Valdese Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Elder Kevin Folan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service.
