Janie Hamrick Walker, 64, of Morganton went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 4, 2016 after several years of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on February 8, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Sue Grady Tallent. Janie was a member of Morganton First Church of God where she taught Sunday school and was active on many church committees. Mrs. Walker owned and operated Tallent Decorating for many years. Along with her husband, she owned several businesses. She loved collecting antiques and traveling.
Janie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Raymond Walker of the home; a step-daughter, Audrey Buchanan of Morganton; her precious granddaughter, Brooke Buchanan of the home; sisters, Brenda Beliveau and Lynn Harbison and her husband, Bob, all of Morganton; nephews, Joe Amos, III and Jamie Harbison; a great-niece and nephew, Emma and Jordan Harbison; and beloved cousins, Nancy Duckworth and William Honeycutt.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at Morganton First Church of God. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Don Blankenship and the Rev. Chip Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
At other times the family will be at the home.
